Sweltering Cities Volunteer Agreement

After you have read this document and clarified any questions or concerns with a Sweltering Cities team member or by emailing [email protected], please check the box on the Sweltering Cities volunteer form or notify your contact person confirming that you understand this policy and will act in accordance. 

 

As a volunteer for Sweltering Cities it is your responsibility to: 

 

  • Support the aims and objectives of Sweltering Cities and act in a way that will not cause reputational harm to the organisation.
  • Participate in all relevant induction and training programs.  
  • Consider all personal information (names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, any personal information that can be used to identify a person) that is shared with you to be confidential and not copy, distribute or share personal information with any person or organisation outside Sweltering Cities.
  • Only undertake duties you are authorised to perform and always operate under the direction of and with support from nominated staff and comply with reasonable directions and instructions.
  • Notify your Sweltering Cities support person or any member of staff of any health and safety issues or potentially hazardous situations that may pose a risk to you or others and report any accidents or incidents relating to staff, volunteers, or the workplace.  
  • Behave appropriately and courteously to all staff, clients and the public in the course of your role.  
  • Use any property or equipment given to you in your role safely and only for purpose of the role and return it to the organisation when you finish your volunteer role or task 
  • Let us know if you wish to change the nature of your contribution (e.g. hours, role) to Sweltering Cities at any time.  
  • Comply with the law at all times.  
  • Be open and honest in your dealings with us and let us know if we can improve our volunteer program and the support that you receive.
  • Comply with all Child Protection legislation and guidelines and alert your supervisor when there are children participating or present at any activity.




As a volunteer for Sweltering Cities you can expect: 

 

  • To be in a workplace free from sexism, racism, homophobia, or any other type of discrimination
  • To have clear expectations and instructions for your work
  • To have a supervisor contact person
  • To have your privacy respected at all times
  • For all reasonable expenses to be reimbursed (including transportation)
  • A safe workplace that complies with Occupational Health and Safety and Anti Discrimination legislation
