Extreme Heat Awareness Day 2026

Heatwaves are Australia’s deadliest environmental disaster. Climate change is making summers longer and hotter, and heatwaves more dangerous. Our cities are sweltering as the urban heat island effect makes it even hotter.

We’ve teaming up with Australian Red Cross and other organisations, experts and other partner across Australia for the second ever Australian Extreme Heat Awareness Day on February 4th, 2025!

Help us make this the biggest Extreme Heat Awareness day yet! By signing up to this event, you will receive notifications about local events that are happening in Feb - let us know if you would be keen to host your own event! Some examples of what people did last year:

  • hosting a heat quiz in the office
  • hosting a local picnic for their neighbours to talk about heat safety
  • hosting a morning tea to raise awareness for heat safety

Are you in Sydney? Come along to our biggest Sydney event of the Summer in Parramatta on the 5th of February at 6pm at Parramatta Town Hall. The more people you can get to come, the bigger this national moment on Heat can be. You can register here - don't forget to send this to a friend!
